Community member and talented artist Elizabeth Bear will teach the basic techniques of beginning and building a pine needle basket. The class will include important tips on how to collect local pine needles, the different varieties of needles, their proper preparation and storage. During this creative and fun class, you will begin and shape a basket of your own design as well as learn how to preserve your work of art for many years to come.
Elizabeth has been creating her own pine baskets for 40 years and has been teaching others her techniques for 10 years, primarily in New Mexico. She has sold and shown her fiber art in media such as weaving, knitting, spinning, crocheting and quilting. Elizabeth’s works have been shown at Stables Gallery and The Millicent Rodgers Museum gift shop both in Taos, at Espanola Valley Fiber Arts Center and at the Santa Fe Community College. Locally, Elizabeth is a member of the Central Coast Craft Makers in San Luis Obispo
