Introduction to Meditation

We have what we seek.
It was there all the time,
And if we give it time,
It will make itself known to us.

What is it we seek?

What we seek is actually, at the deepest level, some aspect of our own nature. For example we may come to meditation wanting to be more conscious, to have more wisdom or knowledge, or to be happier and more peaceful. Yet, the great teachers and spiritual traditions have taught that these are intrinsic qualities of our own soul or true nature, and we only need to find a way to discover it. For many, meditation - the calm and steady flowing of our attention to the pure aspect of our being- is the way.

We tend to experience much of life through thought; our preconceived ideas about what we are experiencing rather than experiencing it directly. Through the practice of meditation we learn to let the thoughts subside and to experience the reality of the moment directly.

Meditation is easy and natural. It is simply being awake, and aware, in the present moment.
